Voilà une splendeur, cet agave découvert dans les années 90, entre 3 000 et 3 500 mètres d'altitude au nord-est du Mexique. Il appartient a la famille des ASPARAGACEAE.

Il a la particularité de résisté à de sévères gelées pouvant aller jusqu'à -12°C, et même supporter la neige une partie de l'hiver. Le côté distinctif de cet agave c'est qu'il ne vit pas dans le désert, mais en sous-bois dans des forêts de pins en altitude.

Cet agave à croissance relativement lente ne fera aucun rejet dans sa vie ou très peu, il pourra croître jusqu'à 1,20 mètre voir plus avant de fleurir suivant les conditions. Il pourra apporter la touche exotique au jardinier, et pourra même se révéler adorable au toucher malgré la présence de grosses épines.
