Agave mitis

Agave mitis semé en 2012 et planté en 2014 dans une rocaille du jardin

Voilà un agave qui a tout pour surprendre, d'une délicatesse au toucher avec de petites épines incroyablement douces, contrairement à tous les autres agaves au piquant fort redoutable. Il appartient à la famille des ASPARAGACEAE.

Il est natif de l'est du Mexique en altitude aux abords des forêts humides, dans les provinces d'Hidalgo, San Luis Potosi et Tamaulipas,

Autrefois considéré comme une espèce gélive, elle a jadis supporter des hivers rudes sur la Côte d'Azur en 1956 et 1985, où le baromètre était descendu en dessous des -10°C, ce qui permet actuellement de considérer cette espèce comme rustique sur la façade atlantique et méditerranéenne

Un agave certainement original de taille moyenne, de couleur vert pâle adaptée à un bon nombre de jardins en respectant bien sûr les exigences du végétal. Ici dans le jardin je le cultive sous une petite canopée plein sud avec une légère pente, ainsi qu'un drainage optimum afin d'éviter le moindre excès d'eau.

Here we have an agave who have all for the surprise, of a delicacy the touch with of small spine incredibly suave, in contrary all other the thorn strong redoubtable. He belongs  to the family of ASPARAGACEAE.

He is native of east of Mexico in altitude on the surroundings of moist forest, in the province of Hildago, San Luis Potosi and Tamaulipas.

In the old days considered  as a gelive species, he is a formerly support of the rough winter on the French Riviera in 1956 and 1985, where the barometer was dropping below of the 14 Fahrenheit, allowing  actually of consider this species as rustic on the Atlantic coast and the Mediterranean coast.

An agave certainly original, of average height, of pale green color adapted to many gardens on respecting of course the requirement of plant. Here in the garden I the cultivation under the light canopy directly south  with also a slight slope, together with an optimum drainage to avoid the least excess water.
